Ann Marie Onofrio of Oxford, Connecticut went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2023 at the age of 90. Born in New Haven to Alphonse and Bridgette Fattore. Marie attended St. Anthony's School and Sacred Heart Academy, Class of 1951. She found her love of performing song & dance in the theater. In high school, she worked at West Haven's Forest Theater, to pay for educational expenses. Later she was an Elevator Attendant for the Southern New England Telephone Company. During that time she met her husband, Raymond Onofrio. Married in 1954, they lived in Milford and moved to West Haven to raise a family. Marie's career continued as Secretary for Samuel Onofrio & Son's Plumbing, Bookstore Manager for Living Word Ministries, and Hostess at the Olive Garden.
Some hobbies included gardening and travel, but her dedication to compassionate service was reflected in her love of cooking. Every Sunday, Marie made her signature homemade sauce and pasta for the family. In addition to her many other fine Italian dishes, Marie's Chocolate Creme Log Cake was Heaven on earth.
Marie was passionate about sharing God's Word with everyone she met. Spreading the gospel was written upon Marie's heart, just as Jesus instructed His disciples in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20, and Luke 24:44-53). Marie was instrumental in the forming of Living Word Ministries, standing firmly with Richard & Adrienne Mallette in belief for God's vision to build a ministry. Her love for Jesus and larger-than-life personality. Her gracious heart and sense of humor could charm anyone. Her life depicts a faithful, loyal, nurturing mother and woman of God—our loss is truly Heaven's gain.
Marie is survived by her two children, Gary Onofrio and Stephen Onofrio, Sr., along with his wife, Kathryn Onofrio. Her surviving grandchildren are Stephanie Onofrio, Stephen Onofrio, Jr. and his wife Heather, Paul Onofrio and Andrew Onofrio. Her surviving great-grandchildren are Halie, Luke, Levi and Charlotte. Marie is affectionately known as Noni.
"His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!" (Matthew 25:21)
