Arlene Brooks, 73, of Seymour, peacefully entered eternal life on Tuesday August 27, 2024, at Griffin Hospital. Arlene was born in Derby, beloved daughter of Elbridge and Jean (Zamoic) Brooks.  She was a graduate of Seymour High School and was proud to be the first in her family to graduate college. She attended Waterbury Technical College (now Naugatuck Valley Community College) and was employed as an office assistant at the Farrel Corporation.  She was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd of St. Nicholas Parish for many years.  Arlene had a love of animals including white cats, dogs and horses; all of which she kept as pets at different stages of her life.  She had a special bond with her feline companion, Matey, and canine companion, Ahoy.  Arlene enjoyed watching horse racing and was fortunate to be able to go to the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Park, and the Saratoga Racetrack. She looked forward to accompanying her friends for small plane flights from the Oxford Airport.  In her younger days she was able to hone her marksmanship skills with target practices.  Arlene was always ready to lend her assistance and concern to help her family and wide circle of friends.  She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved brother, Arthur Brooks.  Arlene is survived by her devoted family, including nephew, William Brooks, Sr. and his wife Amy of Beacon Falls; niece, Kathlene Kapp and her husband Chris Kapp of Oxford; great nieces and nephews, Casey, Benjamin, and Will Brooks, Jr.; Haley and Hunter Kapp.  She is also survived by many cousins and dear friends.  Friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday September 3, 2024 from 9-11 am at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour. Prayers will be offered by Rev. Thomas Cieslikowski at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the family plot at Great Hill Cemetery in Seymour.  In honor of Arlene's love for animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The CT Humane Society Administrative Office 701 Russell Rd. Newington, CT 06111 or on-line at cthumane.org. To leave and on-line condolence please visit: www.chepulisfuneralhome.com
