Denis Charles Debarber

Denis C. DeBarber, 68, of Seymour, unexpectedly entered eternal life on August 15, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital.  Denis was born in Derby, beloved son of the late Charles A. DeBarber and Jane M. (Bowman) DeBarber. He was a 1973 graduate of Seymour High School where he was active in football and track.  He was distinguished to have set a new school record for the high hurdle.  His love of sports continued long after graduation and he served as Assistant Football Coach for many years.  He attended both Naugatuck Valley Community College and Post College studying Algebra, Physics, and Computer Science. Denis was employed by Farrels, AVCO, and KMK Insulation for many years until his retirement in 2020.  After retirement he continued to indulge his love for golf.  He was committed to making the perfect shot and enjoyed the company of others who shared his passion. Though fiercely competitive, he had a softer side as evidenced by his love of birdwatching, and his beloved feline companion, Monkey.  In addition to his parents, Charles and Jane DeBarber, he was predeceased by his brother, Anthony DeBarber.  Denis is survived by his devoted family including his brothers, Thomas DeBarber and his wife Barbara of OH, Christopher DeBarber and his wife Barbara of Southbury, and John DeBarber of OH; sisters, Cindy Didonato and her husband Joseph of OH, and Drusilla Moss of North Carolina.  He is also survived by his nephews, Jake, Thomas, and Charles DeBarber; and nieces, Nicole, Kate, and Erin DeBarber and Jessica Quesnell.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, golfing buddies, and his Seymour football family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 24, 2023 at 9:00am at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour, for a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine Church of St. Nicholas Parish.
