Dorothy N. Warren

Dorothy Nelson Warren of East Berlin entered eternal life on February 8, 2025, at Apple Rehab in Cromwell nearly two weeks after celebrating her 102nd birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Warren, IV. Dorothy was born in Northfield, MN in January 1923, daughter of Hjalmar and Elizabeth (Pacholl) Nelson. She was a proud Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. It was during her military service that she met her future husband, William H. Warren. What began as a disagreement over a discarded banana peel blossomed into true love once blue eyes met brown. They were blessed with a loving 68-year marriage. Dorothy and William were honored with Public Service Awards issued by the Office of the Secretary of the State of CT in recognition of their exemplary service and unwavering courage during the Second World War. Dorothy was a librarian at the East Berlin Library. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and making cookies. She was a long-term member of the Methodist Church of East Berlin. In her later years, she was a member of the Red Hat Society, a social organization for mature women focused on fun and friendship. Most especially, she was proud of and devoted to her loving family. Although she was known to be a bit reserved and set in her ways, she took great pleasure in watching her family grow and succeed. She was always ready to offer her wisdom and advice encouraging them to be the best they could be. She will be greatly missed by all fortunate to have known her.

In addition to her husband, William, she was pre-deceased by her brother, Luvern Oscar Nelson and son-in-law, Tom E. Harlan. Dorothy is survived by her beloved sons, James Warren and his wife LouAnn of Kensington and Paul N. Warren, Ph.D. of Southwick, MA; devoted daughter Susan Harlan, of Berlin; cherished grandchildren, Michael Adanti, Ret. Lt. Col. Jason Warren, Ph.D., Adam Warren and his wife Jenny, Charlie Kunzelman and his wife Julie, Jesse R. Warren, and Lina Fiorillo, and her husband Robert; great grandchildren: William, Alice, Taygan and Avery Warren, Kyle and Colin Kunzelman, Lindsay Adanti and Niaema Bozeman.  Dorothy is also survived by her sisters, Virginia Schreiber of OH, and Alice Vierus, and her husband Richard of NH.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday February 14th from 2:00-4:00pm at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour 06483. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 15th at 11 am directly at the Kensington United Methodist Church 103 Hotchkiss St. Kensington with Pastor Charles Van Houten officiating.  Limited visitation will be available at the Church on Saturday from 10:30am until the start of the service.
