Elvira Opekun

Elvira Opekun, 94, of Ansonia entered eternal rest on Tuesday October 7, 2014 at Birmingham Health Center. Elvira was the widow of Andy Opekun.  She was born in Italy on Feb. 17, 1920, daughter of the late Filippo DiVirgilio and Emilia D'Orario.  Elvira was deeply spiritual and a practicing Jehovah's Witness.  She was devoted to her daughters and grandchildren and took pleasure in their many accomplishments.  In addition to her husband, Andy, she was predeceased by her daughters.

She is survived by her beloved Grandchildren: Dorian D'Amico and his wife Sabrina of Ansonia; Daryl and Davin D'Amico, both of Derby; and Mark, Aida, and Marina Parente of Naugatuck.  She is also survived by several cherished Great Grandchildren and many dear friends.  A grave side service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am directly at Pine Grove Cemetery, 15 Church St. Ansonia. The Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour is assisting the family.
