Gloria Zunski

Gloria Evelyn Postupack Zunski, 93, of Seymour, peacefully entered eternal life on Saturday August 29, 2026, in the comfort of her home with her loving family at her side. Gloria was the beloved widow of Leo Zunski. She was born in Stillcreek, PA on March 1, 1933, daughter of the late George and Evelyn (Hopko) Postupack. She graduated from McAdoo High School in McAdoo PA, and later attended Data-Tech Institute in New Haven, CT. She also pursued educational opportunities at Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, CT. Gloria was deeply religious and her love and devotion to Jesus guided her life with peace and serenity. She was a long-term communicant of St. Augustine Church of St. Nicholas Parish in Seymour, CT. She served her church family as a Eucharistic minister, altar server, reader, and religious education instructor for CYO. She was an active member of the League of the Sacred Heart of St. Augustine Church as well as the Catholic Daughters of America. Throughout her career she held several jobs for major corporations including IBM, Westinghouse Broadcasting, and Sikorsky Aircraft where she retired as an electrical inspector. After retirement Gloria worked as an educator at St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Shelton, CT where for many years she ran their library, served as a substitute teacher, tutored students, and spearheaded fundraising efforts, raising thousands of dollars for the school to secure educational tools such as computers and smartboards. 

Gloria had a kind, compassionate, and empathetic soul and was always ready to lend a helping hand or comforting words of encouragement to anyone in need. Gloria had great respect and appreciation for the mission of the Special Olympics. She volunteered for them to lend her support for their very worthy and valuable causes. Through her kindness, grace, and generosity, she touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Gloria had a strong tendency to help needy people in her local community. She assisted local people in need with gaining access to public housing, finding employment, and connecting with local religious institutions. Gloria would often invite people in need to her own holiday celebrations with her family and friends and endeavored to include them as part of her own family. Gloria's house was not big but there was always enough room for anyone who wanted to join her and her family for holiday celebrations.

In addition to her husband, Leo, she was pre-deceased by her daughter, Adriane Robinson; sister, Antoinette Enama; and brothers, Lawrence and George Postupack. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted sons, Lawrence and David Zunski; beloved grandchildren, Rebecca Robinson, Heather Robinson, Alanna Zunski and Zachary Zunski; cherished great-grandchildren, Cole Teal, Jackson Teal, and Mikayla Zietek. Gloria is also survived by her dear sisters, Georgine Borchick, and Geraldine Scraran, both of PA, and a large extended family and network of dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home, 47 Washington Ave. Seymour on Friday September 4th at 9:30am for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine Church of St. Nicholas Parish with Rev. Thomas Cieslikowski officiating. Friends are invited to greet the family at the funeral home on Thursday September 3rd from 4:00-7:00pm and on Friday from 9am until mass time. Gloria will return to her roots in PA and will have a visitation and Divine Liturgy with Fr. Nicholas Kostyk officiating, at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church 210 West Blaine St. McAdoo, PA on Wednesday September 9th.
