Helen Plenski Matulavage

Helen Plenski Matulavage, formerly of Smith St. Seymour, entered eternal life on Monday January 31, 2017 at the Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shelton with her family at her side. Helen was the wife of the late John Matulavage. She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA, daughter of the late Frank and Rose Plenski. She was a member of the wait staff at the Inn at Southbury for many years. She was a communicant of both St. Augustine Church and the Church of the Good Shepherd in Seymour. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Her passion and greatest joy in life was in spending time in the company of her loving family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Gail Sokolnicki and her significant other Dominic Salzano of Meriden; her beloved son, John Matulavage and his wife, Judi, of Seymour; grandchildren, Jessica Matulavage of Seymour, and David Sokolnicki and his wife, Brooke, of New Hampshire; and cherished great-grandchildren, Sarah Jane Sokolnicki and Allison Rose Sokolnicki of New Hampshire. A Memorial Service to celebrate Helen's long and joyful life will be held on Tuesday February 7 ^th at 10am at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home, 47 Washington Ave. Seymour with Rev. Kevin J. Forsyth officiating. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in the spring.
