Irene Theresa (Athanasiou) Davis, 67, peacefully entered eternal rest during her sleep on August 10, 2020 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was blessed with a happy marriage for over 49 years to her best friend and life partner, Michael J. Davis, Sr. Irene was born in Derby, daughter of the late Augustus and Elvira Athanasiou. She devoted her life to the care of her husband and the raising of her four boys. Together they enjoyed camping, canoeing and laughing, especially at Lake George, the White Mountains, and the Adirondacks. Irene also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, coloring and painting. Irene will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by everyone with whom she had the pleasure of sharing a cup of coffee, a story, or a laugh. In addition to her beloved husband, Mike, she is survived by her devoted sons, Michael J. Davis, Jr. of Seymour, Patrick S. Davis and his wife, Amanda, of Seymour, Thomas Davis and his significant other, Jacqueline Kanzler and ex-wife, Ryan Rodriguez of Seymour, and Evan Davis and his wife, Kelly, of Seymour. She is also survived by her five cherished grandchildren, Katherine, Shannon, Nicholas, Thomas and Keira Davis; and her brothers, George Athans and his wife, Sissie, of Oxford, William Athans of Shelton, and Charles Athans of Naugatuck.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 12, 2020 from 4-8:00 pm at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour, CT 06483. Due to the COVID pandemic strict social distancing and face covering guidelines will be required. Funeral services, which are private, will be held at the convenience of the family.
