Irene Hosko D'Luhy, 95, of Seymour entered eternal life on Monday August 27, 2018 at the Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour after a long battle with dementia. She was the beloved wife and soulmate of the late Leslie W. D'Luhy for over 56 years. Irene was born in Derby on November 5, 1922, daughter of the late Fedor "Frank" and Melania (Garon) Hosko. She worked at Wire Novelty and Mason Jeffries for many years. Irene was devoutly religious and was a communicant of St. Augustine Church. She had many interests and was passionate about each and every venture. She enjoyed cooking, rug braiding, and gardening and maintained a meticulous yard to the delight of her family and friends. Irene enjoyed trips to Wildwood, NJ, Brattleboro, VT, Keene, NH and anywhere she was accompanied by her family. She loved opera, especially Madame Butterfly, and attending shows and musicals in particular the Nutcracker and the Sound of Music. She was a strong supportive woman whose greatest joy in life was in caring for her devoted family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leslie D'Luhy and her siblings Steve, Joe, William, Mary and Anna. She is survived by her son, Leslie D'Luhy and his wife Rosemary of Avon IN; daughter, Irene Agostini and her husband Felippo of Meriden; grandchildren, Melanie Glenn, of Seymour, Jacqueline McFarlane and her husband Aaron of Wallingford, and Jennifer Helton and her husband John of Plainfield, IN. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Connor Glenn, Alyssa Helton, Massimo McFarlane and Cecelia McFarlane. Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 30, 2018 at 9:45 am at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave Seymour, followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine Church 35 Washington Ave. Seymour. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Shelton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:45 am until mass time. The D'Luhy family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Shady Knoll Health Center for their devoted and compassionate care.
