James V. Horbal, 65, of Seymour, unexpectedly entered eternal life on January 23, 2025.  He was the beloved husband of Linda (Boland) Horbal and was blessed with a happy twenty-five-year marriage.  Jim was born in Derby on December 5, 1959, son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Potosky) Horbal, Sr.  He attended Seymour Public Schools and was a graduate of Seymour High School.  He was raised to embrace his Ukrainian heritage and with his family attended St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ansonia.  Jim worked for many years at R & R Manufacturing and MCI in Seymour and was employed by Stop & Shop Grocery Stores until his passing.  Jim was a kind and compassionate man who was always ready to help anyone in need.  In his younger days, he was a member of the Seymour Civil Defense.  In his leisure time, he found joy in riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and as an avid outdoorsman he embraced freshwater fishing, hunting, and target practice shooting.  He had a keen ear for music and enjoyed playing his guitar for relaxation.  Jim spent many days cheering on his favorite sports team, the Miami Dolphins.  Most of all, Jim was devoted to the care and support of his wife and family.   He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; daughter, Heather Graue of TX; devoted siblings, Laura Rebolledo of Columbia South America, and Joseph Horbal, Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Seymour.
Friends are invited to join Jim's family on Tuesday February 4th at 11:00 am directly at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church 105 Clifton Ave. Ansonia where the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Very Reverend Peter Shyshka.  Burial will be in the family plot at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church Preservation Fund.   Jim's final arrangements have been entrusted into the care of the Anthony V.
