John Portier Young

John Portier Young, 88, of Seymour, entered eternal life on Monday July 15, 2019 at the Willows in Woodbridge. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann Marie Stokes. John was born in Derby on June 7, 1931, son of the late Emil Young and Pearl Cadoret Young. He was a 1949 graduate of Seymour High School. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by the United States Postal Service and worked at the Seymour Post Office for 33 years. He loved trains, planes, and boats and enjoyed spending time in Mystic. John enjoyed listening to jazz music and the Big Band sounds of the 1940's. In addition to his beloved wife, Ann Marie, he was predeceased by his son, John David Young. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Louise Campbell and her husband, Kenneth, of Midway TN, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Stokes.
