Joseph Horbal, Sr., 92, of Seymour entered eternal rest Dec. 14, 2015 at Birmingham Health Center in Derby with family at his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian Potosky Horbal. Joseph was born in Shelton Dec. 22, 1922, son of the late Harry and Cristina Dutkanych Horbal. He was a proud World War II Veteran of the US Army Air Corp and a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Emil Senger Post #10 American Legion, Seymour. He was a communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Church of Ansonia. He was employed at Farrel Corporation as an Erector for 44 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Farrel "Old Timers Club." Joe enjoyed performing for many years with the Valley Chordsmen Chorus and sang with and coached several quartets of the Waterbury-Derby Chapter of the Barbershop Quartet Society of America. He was predeceased by siblings Stephen, Phillip, Alton, John, Michael, Jeanette, Mary, Peggy, and Anna. Joseph is survived by devoted sons, Joseph Horbal, Jr. (Lorraine) and James Horbal (Linda) of Seymour, and beloved daughter, Laura Rebolledo of Colombia, South America; granddaughter, Heather Carey of TX, several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Calling hours Sunday, Dec. 20, from 4-8 pm at the Anthony Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour with a Panakhyda service at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home at 9:00 am with a mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave. Ansonia, followed by burial with military honors at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family would like to express sincere thanks to Birmingham Health Center staff for their compassionate care. Memorial gifts in the name of Joseph may be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Church Restoration Fund or the Emil Senger Post #10 American Legion.
