Margaret Crowsley Rooney

Margaret Rooney, 84, of Bethany entered eternal rest on Thursday May 18, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of James Rooney, Sr.  Margaret was born in Huntingdon, England on November 7, 1932, daughter of the late Thomas and Audrey Crowsley.  She was an Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Bethany for many years, as well as a former Tax Collector for the town.  She enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting, and solving puzzles.  Her greatest joy was in taking care of her family.  In addition to her beloved husband, James Rooney, Sr., she is survived by her devoted sons, Gary Rooney of Bethany, and James Rooney, Jr. of Naugatuck; beloved daughters, Susan Callaghan and her husband Dennis of Ansonia, and Gail Appel of Hamden.  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Walter Rich, Mark Rich, Elyse Callaghan, Brent Callaghan, Kris Appel, Evan Appel, Kim Appel and Sarah Hershman; her adored great grandchildren Pauletta Rich, Emily Rich and Harper Hershman; and her brother and sister, David Crowsley and Eileen Dighton both of England.  She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Crowsley and sister, Kathleen Mead.  Funeral Services, which are private, have been entrusted to the care of the Anthony V.
