Michael Edward Mcdonnell, Sr.

Michael E. McDonnell, Sr., 67, of West Haven, entered eternal life on Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour. He was born in Germany on October 8, 1951, son of the late Edward Michael McDonnell and Lieselotte Steffan McDonnell. He came to the US at the age of 5. He was a proud veteran of the US Army having served stateside during the Vietnam War Era. Michael was a custodian for the Trumbull Board of Education and various schools, until his retirement. Michael loved sports, especially football and his favorites, the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. He closely followed politics and World Affairs. He loved animals, particularly his dear cat, Holly. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Annie. He is survived by his devoted son, Michael, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Webster, NY; beloved daughter, Elaine McDonnell of Ansonia; sister, Patricia Spreitzenbarth and her husband Ralf of Germany; brothers, James McDonnell of Germany and Harry McDonnell of the Philippines. Funeral services, which are private, have been entrusted to the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour, CT. Burial, with full military honors will be held in the spring.
