Robert William Kezelevich

Robert W. Kezelevich, 87, of Seymour peacefully entered eternal life on January 3, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Mabel (Knapp) Kezelevich and they were blessed with a happy marriage for nearly sixty years. Bob was born in Derby in 1936, son of Joseph Kezelevich, Sr. and Anna Pohoda.  He was a long-term communicant of St. Augustine Church of St. Nicholas Parish where he served as an altar boy, married, and actively participated in various committees and functions. In 2013 he and his wife were both awarded the Archdiocesan St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation for their service.  Bob was proud to have served his country in the US Marine Corps and was a machinist at the Viking Tool Company of Shelton for many years. Bob was an avid walker, especially with his canine companion, Mia.  After retirement he joined the Seymour Senior Center where he enjoyed playing poker and was affectionately known as "Bingo Bob" and previously served as president of the Seymour Senior Center.  Bob also enjoyed lively games of poker, hot dog events and conversations at the Oxford Senior Center. He enjoyed occasional trips to Atlantic City to enjoy the shore and casinos, frequenting New Hampshire's Saratoga Racetrack and bowled in a league for many years. Bob loved his sports, especially the Boston Red Sox, Pittsburg Steelers and the UCONN basketball teams. He enjoyed golfing, golfing trips, and spending time outdoors.  Bob was devoted to God, country, and especially his loving family.  He is best known for his smile and easy-going ways. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, listening ear, words of encouragement, or a funny joke.  He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lori Micciche, Son in law, Glen Overton, and brother Chester Borkowski. In addition to his beloved wife, Mabel, he is survived by his devoted daughter, Lisa Overton of FL; cherished grandchildren, Marie Micciche Murphy and her husband Charles Murphy of Ansonia, Venessa Micciche Taylor and her wife Lynn-Ann of Seymour, Tyler Overton of Seymour, and Alyssa Overton of FL; great grandchildren Cam and Caleb Murphy, and Joshua Taylor. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Kezelevich of FL, Brother-in-law, Frank Haines, of Seymour, Son in law, Kimon Parks of Ansonia, devoted neighbors Elaine and Paul Paige of Seymour and many dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to greet the family on Friday Jan. 12, from 11am until 1pm at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour.  A Memorial service will be held at 1 pm with Rev. Jeffrey Gubbiotti officiating. Burial in the family plot at St Augustine Cemetery is dependent upon the weather and may be delayed until spring.
