Tadeusz Alexander Stopka, 96, of Hamden, peacefully entered eternal life on February 4, 2021 at midnight.   He was the beloved husband of Halina  Kosinska Stopka, having been blessed with sixty-three years of marriage.  Mr. Stopka was born in New Haven on February 20, 1925, beloved son of the late Boleslaw Stopka and, Stanislawa (Prot) Stopka. He was born in the US originally, but left at the age of 4 to live with his family in Poland. As a young man, he witnessed the horrors of war during the German occupation of Warsaw. After his return from Europe, he was a long standing employee of Pratt Whitney, making parts for jet engines for over thirty years. He was a communicant of Saint Stanislaus Roman Catholic BM church in NH. Tadeusz was a member of the local Polish-American Club on Humphrey Street. He very much enjoyed a good discussion, reading about current events, and playing cards, as well as spending time with his friend and Parish Pastor, Fr. Hlond, of the Hartford Diocese. Tadeusz was an avid listener of Polka and classical music, and when heading over to his house, one could often times hear the sweet melodies playing from outside the door. Many days in the summer, you could find him sitting outside in the shade, always ready to share a good war story. Tadeusz was the last surviving member of his immediate family, outliving his brothers Daniel, Mitchell, and Stanley Stopka. In addition to his beloved wife, Halina, he is survived by his daughters, Donna, and her husband Vincent, and Theresa Yagovane and her husband, Anthony, of Hamden, with whom he resided for his final years. His beloved grandchildren include Evan and Alexander, Anthony Yagovane IV and his wife Sarah, of Guilford, Stephanie Hansen and her husband Jason, of Ashaway RI., Thomas Yagovane of New Haven and newly arrived great grandchild, Josephine Yagovane of Guilford. Due to the restrictions of the COVID pandemic, all funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family.
