Walter Lewicki Sr, 98, entered into eternal rest on November 16, 2016 in Fort Walton Beach, FL. He was born in Seymour, CT on June 26, 1918 son of the late Catherine (Suchadik Lewicki) Marczewski and Stanley Lewicki, who immigrated from Poland in 1910. Walter is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Wanda Bunk Lewicki and his 4 brothers and 1 sister. He lived a long and full life. He served in the US Navy during WWll and was a Pearl Harbor survivor and Battle of Midway Island survivor. He was very active in his community and church. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, and an avid golfer and bowler.
He is survived by his son, Walter "Skip" Jr. and Sharron Land, 3 grandchildren; Deborah Dowlin, Suzanne Jones and Jaime Garrison; 4 great-grandchildren; Carolyn Bloomer, Nichole Masters, Austin Masters, Andrew Garrison and 1 beloved great-great-granddaughter, Abigail Bloomer as well as his extended family and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment, with full Military Honors, will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:30am directly at St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour, with Rev. Kevin Forsyth presiding. His final resting place will be next to his beloved wife, Wanda Lewicki. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour.
