Walter J. Orfiss, Sr.

Walter J. Orfiss, Sr., 76, of Humphrey St. Seymour, entered eternal rest on Sunday February 12, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Joan Delores Skolonis Orfiss. Walter was born in Scranton, PA on January 13, 1941, the only child of the late Stephen and Celia (Zima) Orfiss. He was a proud Army Veteran, having served his country during the Vietnam War. Walter was a faithful employee of the Kerite Company for nearly forty years until his retirement. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter with Citizens Engine Co. # 2, and was a former communicant of St. Augustine Church. Walter enjoyed military themed movies with his favorite being, "Full Metal Jacket." Most of all he enjoyed going for car rides and spending time with his loving family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Debra Orfiss Bristol of Seymour. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; devoted sons, Walter J. Orfiss, Jr. of Seymour, and Stephen Orfiss and his wife Melanie, also of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Jo Ellen and Christa Orfiss of Bethany, and Jakelynn Orfiss of Seymour. Funeral Services, which are private, have been entrusted to the care of the Anthony V.
